What this site is
I take the top 48 to 60 business listings Google Places returns for a trade and city and score all of them on what their public web presence actually shows. The inputs are the Google Places API, published websites and robots.txt. No business submits anything to me, nothing is paid for, and no business is asked for anything before it appears here.
A business can score badly on this site and still be excellent at the work. The score reads the web, not the workmanship. The full method is written down, including the things it cannot see.
Why it exists
What a business publishes about itself is public, and almost all of it can be checked without asking anyone: whether a site publishes structured identity, whether its hours and services are stated in a form a machine can read, whether its robots.txt disallows the crawler and opt-out tokens the AI vendors publish. Checked one business at a time those readings mean little, because there is nothing to hold them against. This site runs the same checks over the top 48 to 60 listings in a trade at once and prints every result beside the others, so the numbers can be compared.
If something here is wrong
Every figure comes from a public source, and the formula that turns those figures into a score is published in full, constants included. What no reader can check from here is what a site said on the day the scan read it, which is exactly the kind of thing that goes wrong. If a score, a phone number or a website on this page is wrong about your business, write to me and I will check it and re-run the scan. There is no charge for that, and you do not have to buy anything.
If you want your page taken down
If you would rather not have a page here, write to me and I will take it down. You do not need to give a reason and I will not ask for one. Your page and its share image come down and your name stops linking to anything. Your row in the ranking stays, because the ranking is built from Google's public listings and dropping one business would misstate the market for everyone else in it. Removals are done by hand, so allow up to seven days. A removal is permanent and a later scan does not undo it.
If you want it fixed
Correcting what a business publishes so assistants can read it properly is work I do for a fee. If that is useful to you, say so in the same email and I will tell you what it would take. If it is not, the scan stays free and public either way.
